Congratulations to our 2008 winners!

First place: Racelle Rosett for "Levi"
As a television writer, Racelle Rosett won the WGA award for thirtysomething. Her work has appeared in Ploughshares and Lilith Magazine. She received her MFA from Emerson College. Rosett is completing her first collection of short stories entitled The False Bride, set in a Jewish community in Los Angeles, exploring the role of faith in the lives of characters living in a seemingly faithless place. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two sons.

Second place: Judith Groudine Finkel for "Two by Four"
Judith Groudine Finkel’s short stories and personal narratives have appeared in literary journals, newspapers and magazines. Her novel Texas Justice, released in February, is available on Amazon.com. Among other awards Judith was the recipient of a Summer Fishtrap 2008 Fellowship and has been honored with a full-tuition scholarship to the 2010 Santa Barbara Writers Conference.

Third place: Amy Graubart Katz for "The Kiss"
Amy Graubert Katz has a bachelor’s degree in creative writing, a master’s degree in Jewish education and teaches both children and adults in the Portland Jewish community. She is creating a new class for high-school students entitled “The Jewish Creative Writing Workshop” and is working on a novel. She lives in Portland, Oregon, with her husband and two children.

The winners and contest judge, bestselling author Anita Diamant, will be honored at a special event as part of the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco’s annual BookFest on November 1, 2009 at 4:00 pm at 3200 California Street. Click here to register for this FREE event.
