Jewish National Fund

Alternative Spring Break in Israel: In March 2008, JNF will send 300 college students and young adults to volunteer in southern Israel—working to improve life in new and existing communities in the Negev. Plant Your Way to Israel: The program lets students ages 5 to 25 raise money toward a trip to Israel by selling tree certificates. Half the monies raised goes to plant trees in Israel; the other half goes in a special account on the student’s behalf. Register at www.jnf.org/pyw.

Ramah Programs in Israel

Tichon Ramah Yerushalayim (TRY), the Jerusalem High School, is a fully-accredited high school semester (February-June) for 10th and 11th graders. The program offers a full range of academic classes including AP and honors courses.

Also included are the Israel Core Curriculum, which is equal to 18 high school credits and integrates formal classroom sessions with extensive field trips; and an intensive Hebrew language program. USY HIGH is a two-month (February-March) study program for 11th and 12th graders for which participants receive full academic credit. Both programs include an endless array of enriching Israel experiences, and extracurricular activities including biking, hiking, rafting, and Gadna (army). TRY and USY HIGH are under the auspices of the Conservative Movement and are strictly kosher and Sabbath observant. Other Programs: Ramah Israel Seminar—summer Israel experience for Ramah campers (with pre-Seminar option in Poland); Ramah Jerusalem Day Camp—for English-speaking children grades 1-8; Ramah Israel Institute—custom-designed tours for synagogues and schools.


Young Judaea Israel Programs

For over 50 years, Young Judaea has been offering summer programs in Israel for teens in grades 9-12. Giving teens the opportunity to experience Israel with their peers and explore their Jewish identity is our specialty. Start your journey in Spain, Italy or Morocco, or fly straight to Israel. Sign up for Israel MD, our new medical track or learn Hebrew on our Uplan program. We have a new volunteer and social action program called Tikun Olam. Volunteer for various causes including conserving the environment, marking trails for nature education, assisting children with disabilities, volunteering among recent immigrants, and more. Earn college credits and community service hours on all of our programs. Program Description: Year Course is Young Judaea’s 9-month volunteer and accredited study program for recent high school graduates. Optional specialty tracks in Visual Arts, Design, Performing Arts, Medicine, Sports, and Culinary Arts. Our Olami international travel options allow students to visit Morocco, Ethiopia, India, Portugal, Kazakhstan and more! We also offer Shalem, a more complete religious Israel program for Orthodox participants, and Shevet, offering religious & spiritual exploration in an observant atmosphere.
