I love the energy a real machaneh experience brings to Judaism, awakening a Jewish light in kids and teenagers around the world. As a camper, I experienced the invaluable combination of lovely languid Shabbat afternoons followed by sizzling Saturday night midurot, the calm of crickets singing outside sleeping tents and the beautiful cacophony of ruach sessions rising from a dining hall. Looking at Judaism through the bright, wide eyes of a Jewish camper is to see a big-hearted, living religion at its best. At the moment, it’s hard to imagine sending off my two little girls to their first Jewish camp adventure in just a few short years. On the other hand, I can’t imagine not doing it. My eyes will be teary, but I’ll be sharing with them a special part of me, of our culture, history and, of course, our future.—Rebecca Newman Leavey, Moment Director of Marketing & Community Outreach

ALEXANDER MUSS HIGH SCHOOL IN ISRAEL
Alexander Muss High School in Israel (AMHSI) aims to promote, build, and strengthen lifelong bonds between youth and Israel through study of the history and culture of the people of Israel. AMHSI is a premier academic experience in Israel that prepares students for college and beyond. Since its founding in 1972, AMHSI has successfully impacted over 20,000 students. AMHSI’s core program is non-denominational, pluralistic, and is designed for public and private school students. Whether students are looking to explore their heritage or interested in studying history and traveling, AMHSI offers these opportunities, while preparing students for college. The two-month program follows a 4000-year chronological curriculum using the land of Israel as a “living classroom.” AMHSI is fully accredited. Students receive full high school credit for their secular studies and are eligible for college credit as well. Additionally, AMHSI works with Jewish day schools and community groups to design programs according to each group’s unique educational goals. To learn more, visit amhsi.org.

THE HABONIM DROR CAMP NETWORK
Habonim Dror camps grow and nurture caring campers for a better world. It’s not surprising then that our camp alumni are caring adults committed to tikkun olam, to Israel, and to progressive Jewish values everywhere. “Habos” are doing well by doing good as Jewish and secular community leaders—and have been now for more than 75 years. Based on the kibbutz educational model, Habonim Dror’s seven North American camps teach community, encourage diversity, and develop leadership through sharing and youth-led programming that is both fun and inspirational. In tough times, when value counts, give them values. As a Jewish parent, you want your children to grow up with your values and deep-rooted Jewish commitment. You’ll want to check below, then, for the closest Habonim Dror camp and ask about their time-tested ability to nurture Jewish souls.

RAMAH CAMPING MOVEMENT
Lifelong friendships and personal commitment to Jewish life that is exciting and meaningful are just two of the benefits of a summer at a Ramah camp. As the camping arm of Conservative Judaism, Ramah has enabled campers and staff to live committed and vibrant Jewish lives through immersion in a summer Jewish community. At Ramah camps, education is combined with recreational activities, creating a fun Jewish environment. Campers can expect a program of sports, outdoor education, drama, dance, music, media arts, arts and crafts, and overnight trips combined with Hebrew and Judaic literacy, Shabbat observance, kashrut, and daily prayer. To maintain our strong connection to Israel and to encourage the use of Hebrew in everyday activities, Ramah camps are enriched by the participation of Israeli staff members. Ramah also offers programs for children with special needs, family camps, winter retreat and Shabbaton facilities, and Israel programs for all ages.
