I Want You to Know We’re Still Here by Esther Foer (Tim Duggan Books (March 31, 2020) ISBN 978-0525575986).
When Esther’s mother casually mentions an astonishing revelation—that her father had a previous wife and daughter, both killed in the Holocaust—Esther resolves to find out who they were, and how her father survived. Armed with only a black-and-white photo and a hand-drawn map, she travels to Ukraine, determined to find the shtetl where her father hid during the war. What she finds reshapes her identity and gives her the opportunity to finally mourn.

This summer we lost Elie Wiesel, a great and kind man who was an inspiration to me. Moment has now lost both of its founders, and I, two friends. Without Elie and Leibel—Leonard Fein—it is more important than ever that Moment continue its work and carry on their legacies.
Many will be familiar with Mark Podwal’s black and white drawings for the New York Times Op-Ed page and his Jewish-themed illustrations for books by authors such as Elie Wiesel.
JEWISH AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH 2015 // Leonard Fein, who passed away in 2014, and Elie Wiesel—both writers deeply concerned about Judaism and Jews—founded Moment to be an independent voice in the Jewish American community.
What does it mean to be Jewish today? What do Jews bring to the world? Mel Brooks, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Elie Wiesel, Itzhak Perlman, Ruth Wisse, Geraldine Brooks and other thoughtful Jewish Americans tell Moment what they think.
